3 Reasons to Switch Up Your Skin Care Regimen

Health & WellnessJessica AndersonComment

Is your skin care regimen just isn’t working for your skin type anymore? Or perhaps you are starting to ask questions about the ingredients found in your skin care products and if they are truly good for you. At SkinDeep Naturals, a Colorado natural skin care company, we encourage consumers to read their labels and consider switching up their skin care regimen. Here are 3 reasons to change up your skin care.

  1. Shelf Life: Just like you wouldn’t eat food that has been in your cabinet for two years, you might want to think twice about putting things on your skin with a long shelf life. Products with a long shelf life are made of artificial ingredients. Try small batch products made with natural ingredients instead.

  2. Ingredients: As many people make the shift to preferring whole foods over processed foods, they are also preferring skin care products with natural ingredients as well. Wouldn’t it be nice to use a skin care product with only ingredients you can pronounce and actually know what they are?

  3. Skin Type: You know it’s time to switch up your skin care regimen if you are having problems you haven’t had in the past. Perhaps your skin is overly dry, you are experiencing oily patches, or more frequent breakouts. If so, try something new and natural to see if you can get your skin to regulate.

No matter what the reason is that has you looking at new skin care products, we would love for you to give us a try. Contact us at SkinDeep Naturals today for more information.

Cucumber and Matcha Face Mask

Organic Skin CareJessica AndersonComment

It's easy to whip up this antioxidant, anti-aging, cooling mask with ingredients you probably already have! This recipe was taken from Juliette Goggin and Abi Righton's LOVELY book: Handmade Spa. Take a few minutes to treat your skin to this  nourishing skin treatment:

You will need:

1 tsp Matcha Green Tea powder

1 cucumber

1/2 tsp Vegeset

20 drops lime essential oil

Combine the matcha and 10 ounces of hot (not boiling water). Stir until the tea dissolves and let it cool completely. Toss the cucumber in a blender, add the green tea mixture and blend. Add the vegeset and blend again. Place the mixture in a pan over low heat, stirring constantly. Once it reaches boiling, remove from heat and cool completely. Add the lime essential oil and hand-stir. Pour mixture into a glass bowl and place in the fridge to set.

Spread all over clean face, neck, and chest. Cover with a disposable cotton sheet mask if you have one. It's okay if you don't! Leave on for 5 - 10 minutes before removing with warm water.  Follow with toner and moisturizer

Natural Spring Cleaning Tips

HomeJessica AndersonComment

Spring is so close we can almost taste it - and that means at this Fort Collins natural skin care
company
, we’ve got the itch for spring cleaning. If you don’t already have a go-to plan for
spring cleaning, we wanted to get you started with four spring cleaning tips so your home feels
fresh and as ready for the new season as you are. When applicable, we have included our
favorite natural cleaners and tools in lieu of chemical cleaners.

*  Clean with Vinegar: If you don’t mind the smell, vinegar can replace many store-bought
cleaners you use in your home. You can mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray
bottle to clean windows, stainless steel, and get buildup off faucets. Check out this
article
from Today to read about 28 uses for vinegar.

*  Clean with Hydrogen Peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide is another item you probably have
at home that is great for natural cleaning. It is perfect for removing stains from clothes
(especially blood and dark stains from berries). And it is used as a disinfectant (while
vinegar is not a registered disinfectant) so it can clean areas more prone to gathering
bacteria like counter tops and sinks.

*  Refresh Drapes in the Dryer: An article from HGTV recommends refreshing drapes by
throwing them in the dryer with a wet towel on an air-fluff cycle for 15 minutes. The
wet towel will draw away the dust and you will have fresh drapes to hang back up. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to a few wool dryer balls to add a refreshing scent!

*  Don’t Underestimate the Power of Fresh Air: For large or bulky items that might not
need to be washed (like pillows and comforters), you can air them off on a clothes line
outside to remove the stale smell on being in a closed-up house all winter.

At SkinDeep Naturals we are always looking for simple ways to make our lives more natural.

Love Your Lips

Organic Skin CareJessica AndersonComment

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we thought it seemed fitting to post a blog that
will get your lips in kissable shape. Did you know your lips don’t create oils like the rest of your
skin does? That is why they dry out so easily. The same is true about the skin around your eyes,
which is why the skin around the lips and eyes age faster. Here at SkinDeep Naturals, a Fort Collins organic skin care company, we create small batch, made-to- order remedies for dry lips.

Here are our top 3 products to show your lips some love:

Pure Moisture for Eyes and Lips:
Pure Moisture for Eyes and Lips is packed with antioxidants and vitamins to minimize the
appearance of wrinkles and give your chapped lips a burst of moisture. We recommend you
apply this product morning and night to your lips. And make sure you give it about 15 minutes
to absorb before putting on lipstick. Nearly all the ingredients are certified organic and Pure
Moisture is scented with essential oils.

Spearmint Lip Butter:
This lip balm glides on easily and is made with all organic ingredients and beeswax from our
own beehive here at SkinDeep Naturals. It comes in a tube for easy application and you can rest-assured that there aren’t any ingredients like petroleum that actually aggravate chapped lips.

Lip Butter with Propolis:
What makes this lip butter so special is propolis, an ingredient we get from our bees. Bees
make it to seal up any spaces in their hives for protection. We harvest excess propolis when
inspecting the hive. This amazing substance has been used for centuries for its healing
properties.
